How do my images get from an idea to a finished art piece?

The supplies I use to create my artwork are quite important. In order to get the very most out of every sketch, an artist wants to use the right inking pens, the right paper and definatly some quality markers. Here is a list of the supplies that I use.

65lb. Wausau Acid Free Cardstock Paper
Though my primary sketches are done on regular computer paper, when I transfer the sketch into inks I always use this wonderful paper to ink on! The markers bleed very little into this paper.

Steadtler Pencils & Erasers for Sketching
The pencils really are a matter of preference and have little impact on the final piece. I use mechanical pencils for the small detail & HB Steadtler pencils for regular sketches just because I love the quality of the erasers on their pencils. I also use Steadtler block erasers for big erase jobs.

Pigma Micron Waterproof Black Ink Pens for Inking
It is so important that artists working with markers use waterproof ink. Otherwise the marker colors will cause the ink to run when you start coloring! I use Pigma Micron pens in 0.1 and 0.05 widths.

A Light box for the Cleanest Inking Possible
My light box allows me to trace the sketch so that I get no erase marks and the boldest black lines possible for my inked pieces.

Copic, Prismacolor and Tria Markers for Coloring
If you think Crayola will cut it, you are dead wrong. Prismacolor, Tria and Copic markers are all I would use for marker pieces. You really have to try them for yourselves to see the difference first hand.

Adobe Photoshop CS2 & a Wacom Drawing Tablet
For digital work I can't recommend any better then Adobe Photoshop CS2 and a drawing tablet from Wacom! Most of the work on my page is colored with these two tools, though I very rarely sketch on the computer. I use the tablet to touch up, ink & color digital artwork.

Clear Sealant Spray for Paper Products to Protect
I use two coats of spray on every marker piece, it really makes a difference!
